Celebrating Our 6th Annual Conference
Bringing the best longevity researchers and biotech investors together.
On August 10-11, 2023, we held our sixth annual Ending Age-Related Diseases (EARD) conference to bring entrepreneurs, investors, pharma and biotech companies, researchers, and government organizations together. Fostering the exchange of information and encouraging cooperation between the various parts of the industry is the goal of our non-profit organization.
Not only did we bring leaders in longevity research together, we also included experts from the decentralized science (DeSci) movement. DeSci is an open science movement that aims to build public infrastructure for funding, creating, reviewing, crediting, storing, and disseminating scientific knowledge fairly and equitably.
DeSci is the next evolution of crowdfunding, and because most of it is rooted in blockchain, it has attracted support from members of the cryptocurrency community who also want longer and healthier lives. Solving aging is going to take large-scale funding and the DeSci movement makes raising those funds more likely using blockchain technology that is free from the constraints of the traditional grant system.
If you missed some of the talks, panels, or workshops, paid ticket holders can watch the conference on demand by logging into the event system for the next month or so.
As part of our commitment to open science, we will steadily release videos from the events on the Lifespan.io Youtube channel over the coming year once the on demand period has ended. You can also watch the vidoes on this page using the Youtube player below.
Conference Themes
We brought the science of aging research into the future by leveraging emerging paradigms such as blockchain technology and decentralized science. Join us in building a powerful new ecosystem that can generate therapies and technologies to help us all live longer and healthier lives. This event our main areas of focus were:
Aging, a universal phenomenon that affects all living organisms, has long fascinated scientists and sparked profound questions about the essence of life itself. This track sheds light on the science behind aging, featuring research focused on bringing tangible breakthroughs closer to reality in order to inspire a broader conversation about the possibilities and challenges of extending healthy human lifespan.
You can’t change what you can’t measure, so it is critical to understand how to measure the effects of potential interventions on aging. Discover the cutting-edge field of biomarkers for aging along with emerging methods of measuring and understand ing biological age.
Join us as we explore the quest for identifying the reliable indicators that can shed light on the complexities of aging and provide valuable insights into individual health and lifespan.
Decentralized Science, or DeSci, has the capability to solve numerous problems inherent to traditional science. In this track, learn about how DeSci approaches are creating new mechanisms for health data ownership, privacy preservation, analysis, and sharing, which can lead to an increased pace of scientific breakthroughs.
Artificial Intelligence has recently become the hottest topic on the block, but did you know that A.I. is being used to accelerate research aimed at extending healthy human lifespan? Learn from leaders at the intersection of A.I. and blockchain technology how this is being accomplished and how you can be involved.
Blockchain technology is helping to create new and better models to raise funds and awareness for scientific endeavors such as aging research. Learn about mechanisms such as Quadratic Funding, Inverse Quadratic Funding, and new types of dynamic NFTs uniquely suited for rallying the public to support healthy longevity and other public goods.
Both the fields of longevity research and decentralized science experience unique challenges with respect to support from governments and regulatory compliance. Hear about the latest developments and considerations from the people at the front lines of these issues.
Blockchain technology can positively disrupt the status quo of scientific research by creating new incentive models related to how research is published along with new models for sharing such publications. Learn about the latest work being done in this area and how you can be involved yourself.
Decentralized science is all about working together to achieve results greater than if we all worked in silos, and that is why it is vitality important to build a strong community of like-minded individuals so that we can positively change the world together. At this event, you will have the opportunity to meet brilliant future collaborators united by the common causes of decentralizing science and extending healthy human lifespan.
Who is this conference for?
We have always worked hard to ensure our conferences have something for everyone, and we believe that this year is no exception. If you are one of the following groups of people, then this conference is for you!
- If you are a researcher: EARD2023 offers you the opportunity to get an overview of what is going on in various areas of aging research and discuss promising directions and potential blind spots with your peers. Our goal is to ensure that all bases are covered and that we are getting closer to the possibility of bringing all age-related diseases under medical control. You can also benefit from our media support of the event, which is aimed at making your research more visible to the public.
- If you are a longevity supporter: We feature the most up-to-date studies on aging and rejuvenation to help you keep track of new developments, understand the science behind various interventions against age-related diseases, and build your own reliable longevity strategy. On top of that, being among like-minded people and exchanging insights is refreshing!
- If you are an investor: EARD2023 will feature leading researchers and biotech companies, so you will be able to scout for currently promising opportunities for investment. Detailed presentations will also improve your understanding of longevity science to help you navigate the field more easily in the future.
- If you are leading a biotech company: Our conference is the ideal place to find new business partners and investors to support your work. It is also a great opportunity to sponsor the conference and make your company more visible to the longevity community both during and after the conference.
The Venue
Our conference was held at CAPITALE in New York City. Located at 130 Bowery, this neoclassical building dates back to 1895 and has Corinthian columns, Venetian glass, and marble mosaic floors.
The building was formerly the Bowery Savings Bank, and this iconic New York City landmark received a $1 million restoration of its stunning neoclassical architecture, an upgraded state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, and updated upholstery and décor.
The Grand Ballroom, where the conference is being held, boasts a 15,000-square-foot area and a 65-foot ceiling, and it can accommodate over 1000 people.
We would not think of a more perfect place for our guests and speakers to join us for our triumphant return to hosting in-person events. For those who were not able to join us in New York, the event was also streamed for people to watch online.
